WW11 BD service number on pocket?

Postby gtauckram » Tue Feb 14, 2017 6:01 pm

Hi just going through a BD that i've had for a number of years which I thought was unnamed and found a number on inside of exterior pocket. It is very small. Is this likely to be a service number? Has anyone else found a number in this location? The number looks to be 20038. I have posted the balance of the insignia and ribbon board.

Hi,
The photo of the number does not do it justice.
My first impression was that it was cutters/tailors number. (does this number appear on any other pieces of the KD linings?)
Can you tell what the whole number is?

Thanks

Hi Barry

Just a bit hard to read the fourth number but either 20009, 20039 or 20089. Most likely 20009. The number is not hand written it is a ink stamp. Can't find the number else on the tunic or trousers. Tunic dated Nov 1942.

Hi,
I don't think that this number or the stamping is a regimental number.
I will have to look at my BD suits to see if there are any, from memory I do have similar numbers.
